By 2060, 155 million Europeans, or 30 percent of the total European population, will be 65 years or older. In this ageing demography, caregivers have crucial role but are often undereducated and have a low influence on their work situation. Qualitative training for caregivers has a huge potential as it raises the skills levels of a large and sometimes overlooked workforce and can have a significant impact on caregiving for an ageing population. CARE Campus is a unique, EIT Health-supported, training programme providing high-quality distance education for both professional and family caregivers. When wrapping up the four-year programme, almost 12.000 caregivers have taken the online courses.

After two intense days of pitch coaching and investment training sessions in Liverpool with Beth Susanne, International Pitch and Communications Coach, Raj Airey, venture developer, advisor and investor, Gabriela Juarez Martinez, Knowledge Transfer Manager at Innovate UK and Eithne McShane, Senior Commercialisation Specialist at Enterprise Ireland, the UK-Ireland finalists of this year’s Headstart Funding Programme delivered their pitch in front of a jury of experts.

The weekend programme consisted of two parts, a training and a coaching session. During the training, the groups learned the basic tools for running their own business: designing the business plan, discovering their motivations, targeting the costumers, and pitching in front of investors.

Members of the European AI Alliance can interact with the experts of the High Level Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI HLG), established by the European Commission, in a forum-style setting. By signing up to the Alliance, members will find a dedicated platform where they can offer input and feedback to the AI HLG.

During the event, the Innovation Agency explored local, national and international trends in healthcare and promoted the benefits of digital health innovations to improve the quality of life of patients in the UK, especially in the Northwest Coast area. A fantastic line of speakers, including Steve Rotheram, the Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region, and Paul Rice, Head of Technology Strategy at NHS England, attended the event to share their experiences about the impact that digital technology is having on the way health and social care are delivered.

This award seeks to highlight the individuals, teams or organisations which are going the furthest towards breaking down barriers between different services to ensure patients with long-term and multiple needs get the right care in the right place for them.
